Salary from $87,329 to $94,389 per annum, plus superannuationExciting opportunity to join a growth CouncilAbout the position The City is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Rates & Accounts team, to provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and support for the Rates Team and assist the Coordinator Rates & Accounts in the operational, administrative and strategic initiatives of the Rates Unit.
The role communicates with a range of customers and stakeholders including government departments and agencies, the business community, members of the public and City leaders and employees.
A challenging aspect of the role relates to overseeing the day-to-day operation of the rates area, ensuring that the team provides accurate and consistent customer service and outcomes within a dynamic environment that includes prescribed timeframes.
About you As a collaborative member of the Rates & Accounts team, the position supports the City's rates services, including supervision of a team, to a high quality standard that meets customer needs, corporate standards and legislative requirements with prescribed time limits.
The successful appointee must be adaptable and have had relevant experience in a similar role.
They must also thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation.
As such, applicants must be able to demonstrate through their CV and covering letter that they meet the following essential criteria:
Relevant experience in a similar role.Knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995, Rates and Charges (Rebates and Deferments) Act 1992 and Local Government rating principles and practices.Experience in financial management processes and systems.Intermediate computing, numeracy, literacy and keyboard/data entry skills.Intermediate organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.Advanced customer service skills.Skilled in supervising the work of others, providing technical assistance and motivating staff.Intermediate communication, problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills.Foundation research and analysis skills.Knowledge of the practical application of occupational health and safety measures in the workplace, including risk assessment and control implementation.Why work for the City of Wanneroo The City offers a range of employment benefits including:
