About the Role:
The Department for Environment and Water (DEW), Eyre and FarWest Region has an exciting opportunity available for a highlymotivated, enthusiastic person willing to work collaborativelywithin a team of Rangers, Marine Co-ordinators and other Districtand Regional colleagues.
The Senior Ranger role has a marine focus, and is responsiblefor the development and implementation of a range of operationalprograms and projects to ensure the effective management of marineparks and marine programs within the Eyre District and at times theFar West District.
Core responsibilities include assist in developing andimplementing marine ecosystem and wildlife conservation programs,plan and undertake marine compliance operations, engaging with thecommunity and school groups, maintenance of marine park assets,assist in scientific monitoring programs including citizen scienceprograms, assist with marine and terrestrial park presentation andinterpretation, and participating in marine mammal incidents andNPWS wildlife rescue.
The role also builds effective and positive workingrelationships with key partners, including marine Commercial TourOperators, Aboriginal communities, local government and LandscapesBoard staff, the marine science community and representatives fromconservation and volunteer groups.

Special Conditions:
Will be required to participate in emergency operationsincluding bushfire operations, search and rescue and marinemammal stranding's. This may require at times, some out ofhour's work including the participation in an "on-call"roster. Will be required to work weekends and public holidays forwhich a 9.0% loading will apply. Will be required to undertake a medical and fitnessassessment for a Fire Fighting Role Classification as definedin the DEW Fire Management Policy and Procedures. Will be required to wear a uniform in accordance with DEWpolicy. A current class "C" driver's licence and willingnessand ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential. Intra and inter-state travel may be required, includingbrief periods of time away from home. A Coxswain Grade 1 (Near Coastal) Certificate is highlydesirable and demonstrated experience operating and crewing onvessels is essential. A current Provide First Aid Certificate is essential(HLTAID001; HLTAID002 and HLTAID003). This role has functions pertaining to working with childrenand is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person)Act 2016 as requiring a Working with Children Check (WWCC). OPS4 $75,430 min - $79,070 max p.a.
