A&E influence each stage of the Victorian transport asset lifecycle to realise a reliable transport network for our communities, through policy, planning, investment and technical standards.Our work optimises the value and sustainability of allocated resources (capital and operating) across the Victorian transport portfolio and its asset base.About the RoleThe Senior Rail Engineering Technical Advisor sits within the Standards and Transport Engineering Branch (STE) of A&E and reports to the Senior Manager, Rail Engineering. They will provide expert technical advice and leadership across heavy and light rail disciplines for DTP. They are an engineering professional who has 15+ years of technical experience, with the majority being in a rail environment. The Senior Rail Engineering Technical Advisor is responsible for providing guidance and advice to the Chief Engineer, Rail, the Rail Engineering Principal Engineers, other divisions within DTP, rail transport operators (RTOs), and delivery agencies.The Senior Rail Engineering Technical Advisor will provide technical leadership across the Rail Engineering Disciplines. This may involve:Providing strategic thinking and input into technical issues management of key internal and external stakeholders, such as the RTOs and Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA)Representing STE in discussions with key internal and external stakeholders, including at a National level in collaboration with the Chief Engineer, RailBriefing the Chief Engineer, Rail on complex technical issues arising in the Victorian Transport Network and providing recommendations for the way forwardSupporting the Chief Engineer, Rail, and Rail Engineering team in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of arising technical issues. Supporting the technical development of asset-class strategies to inform the future requirements of the Victorian Transport NetworkSupporting technical activities that ensure compliance with the DTP technical and maintenance requirements, in collaboration with the Rail Engineering
