About the Role The Gunnedah Shire Council is excited to offer a full-time opportunity for a Senior Public Facilities Officer to join our dedicated team in Gunnedah, NSW.
This role is essential in ensuring our public facilities are safe, accessible, and maintained to the highest standard for the benefit of our community.
Reporting to the Manager of Public Facilities, you'll play a key role in overseeing operations across diverse facilities, including parks and gardens, sporting fields, cemeteries, swimming pools, the airport, and bushfire management initiatives.
Core Responsibilities Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans for public facilitiesSupport asset management in collaboration with Public Facilities staffParticipate in business planning and resource management to ensure high-quality public amenitiesAssist in preparing operational plans and budgets for public facilitiesCoordinate and supervise capital expenditure projectsDevelop, assess, and implement tenders, quotations, and Council reports for public facilitiesBuild strong relationships with facility user groups and engage in community consultationsSupport the management of leases and licenses for Council-owned land and propertyUndertake Aerodrome Reporting Officer training and conduct regular airport inspectionsAssist with bushfire management practices to enhance community safetyApply continuous improvement principles to optimise outcomes for public facilitiesPerform administrative tasks and maintain accurate records in Council's management systemInvestigate and respond to customer inquiries in line with service standardsParticipate in Council's on-call roster for airport and property management as neededQualifications and Skills Qualifications in a relevant fieldProven experience in public facilities management or maintenance supervisionStrong project management skills and familiarity with budgeting and planningExcellent communication and community engagement skillsAbility to build effective relationships with user groups and stakeholdersWhat We Offer Rostered day off every 3 weeksCompetitive salary and benefitsOpportunities for professional growth and skill developmentA supportive, collaborative, and community-focused team environmentThe chance to make a meaningful impact within the Gunnedah communityThe use of a vehicle and phone for work purposesAnnual salary starting from $99,764.60 + Superannuation To read more about the role, please see the position description or call the Acting Manager Public Facilities, Michelle Welch on 02 6740 2***.
