Role Summary AtkinsRéalis' Engineering Design business provides multidisciplinary engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of projects and markets. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Protection Design Engineer with expertise in High Voltage Systems – Protection, Controls and SCADA (up to 500kV) to join our team in Australia.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in the design, development and implementation of Protection, Control and SCADA Systems. Familiarity with modern digital relays (IEDs), relay coordination, protection coordination studies, applications/settings as well as auxiliary supply systems for high voltage networks is essential. Familiarity with Australian utility standards and experience on related projects will be well regarded.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead a team of secondary system designers and support our multi-disciplinary design and project management teams, including mentoring junior engineers.Collaborate with senior engineers to prepare and deliver a full scope of secondary design for new and brownfield sites, including conducting load flow, fault levels, and protection coordination studies, relay application and protection settings, protection and control schematics, SCADA system architecture, communication protocols, and auxiliary supply systems.Maintain client relationships to support project delivery and engage as a subject matter specialist.Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project goals, establish budgets and develop project schedules, including with our Global T&D team.Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and quality control processes to ensure design excellence.Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends in power system control and protection design to recommend innovative solutions.Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities Proven experience in the design of HV and EHV substation installations, preferably for BESS, Solar/wind, with expertise in secondary systems design, including Protection, Control, SCADA and auxiliary supplies.Excellent interpersonal and technical skills with the ability to develop strong client relationships and work with the Client's integrated teams for brief periods or in commissioning teams for substations.Experience working in digital engineering environments and delivering to local technical standards and guidelines.Commercially minded, understanding the business needs of both AtkinsRéalis and our clients.Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical / Power Engineering or an equivalent.Full Australian Working Rights.NER, CPEng or RPEQ is ideal.Additional Information We're not all the same and that's our greatest strength and we believe that 'Different Makes a Difference.'
