You will provide professional prosecution services, including the provision of legal advice to members of the Service on matters before the Magistrates, Children's and Coroners Courts.
Redcliffe Police Prosecution Corps is a small-sized establishment. It operates with a combination of both sworn and civilian prosecutors, including a Sergeant, Officer in Charge, providing a prosecution service within the Moreton District. Prosecutors are responsible for police-related matters in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court.
A position in this office offers a broad level of experience across all Magistrates Court criminal matters, providing a depth of skill and expertise in the field of prosecuting.
This position requires the supervision of subordinate staff.
The core capability requirements for this role are: Provide a prosecution service for the area of responsibility. Monitor the provision of briefs of evidence by police for use in summary trials and for committal proceedings to ensure the highest quality of briefs is maintained. Liaise, consult and negotiate with members of the Queensland Police Service, the legal profession, government agencies and the community towards the establishment of effective working relationships and achievement of desired policing outcomes. Take a lead role in the development and provision of quality legal research, argument, submissions, opinion and advice. Manage resources in accordance with Service policy to achieve efficient operations for the area of responsibility. Establish and model maintain high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities. May include coordination activities for Specialist Courts and diversionary initiatives as directed by the Superintendent. Role Requirements: Mandatory Admission as, eligibility for immediate admission as, or entitlement to practice as, a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland.
