Details of the offer

IPART – Insurance Monitor – Senior Project Officer, Insurance Monitor – IPART Officer E

3-year temporary role in an independent, strategic agency of the NSW Government
Join a new team tackling an important consumer protection initiative
Central Sydney location, with flexible working conditions and hybrid working options

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team and make your contribution in an emerging area of consumer protection newly added to IPART's portfolio. As Insurance Monitor, we will monitor insurers' pricing and conduct during the transition from the emergency services levy (ESL) to a new model for funding the State's emergency services so that the community can have confidence that insurers will remove the ESL from premiums over the transition period.
In this role, you will be at the heart of the new Insurance Monitor team. You will steer and manage a variety of projects to support delivery of our regulatory work. You will oversee everything from planning and resource management to evaluating project success, ensuring projects are on track, within budget, and meet clearly defined success criteria. You will work with a range of skilled professionals to develop business cases, identify and manage risks. You will leverage your excellent communication and project management skills to co-ordinate internal and external stakeholders and build strong relationships with them to ensure smooth delivery of the Insurance Monitor work program.
The salary range for the position is $121,892 - $130,479 per annum + superannuation and annual leave loading.
About the team
This role is one of several being advertised concurrently to set up the Insurance Monitor team at IPART. If you are interested in learning more about the Insurance Monitor and the opportunities available, you can register to attend a 30-minute information session on Monday 23 September 2024 at 12.30pm by completing the following form with your name, email address and telephone number: Candidate Information Session Registration Form.
About you
We are looking for a confident professional who doesn't wait to be told what to do, instead identifying what is needed, proposing solutions, and keeping the team on track. You will thrive on managing complex stakeholder interests in tight timeframes and novel contexts. You will be comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy, highly efficient at time management, capable of addressing multiple priorities and resolving roadblocks. You will have expertise in project management using a variety of different frameworks and be flexible in working with diverse professionals both within and external to IPART.
We would highly value previous experience working within the insurance industry, government or relevant advisory roles.
About us
The Independent Pricing & Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) makes the people of NSW better off through its independent decisions and advice. We help people get safe and reliable services at a fair price.
IPART undertakes independent regulatory functions in the water, transport, local government and energy sectors in NSW. We also undertake reviews and investigations into a wide range of economic and policy issues. In June 2024, IPART was appointed as the Insurance Monitor under the Emergency Services Levy Insurance Monitor Act 2024 (The Act).
Our organisational values are:

Integrity and courage – we are willing to make the difficult decisions
Curiosity and openness – we seek out and develop new ideas that will improve our work
Respect and inclusion – we bring together diverse experiences and skills to generate better solutions
Making a difference – we pursue better outcomes for the people of NSW

If your values align with ours, we want to talk to you!
