About the role: An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time Fixed Term VPS-5 Senior Project Officer to manage the Youth Crime Prevention and Early Intervention Project (YCPEIP). YCPEIP aims to reduce rates of re-offending amongst young people (10-24 years old) through increased cautions, diversions, early referrals to legal and social supports, and community legal education.
As the successful applicant, you will be undertaking strategic planning, analysis, and project management in a dynamic frontline policing environment.

Your duties will include: Provide high level specialist advice, including recommendations and solutions that provide the YCPEIP Steering Committee and program owner with options for decision making.Maintain knowledge of youth services within the local area, as well as knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to the YCPEIP.Provide advice to respective police regions on YCPEIP's implementation and operation, ensuring there is a clear framework and support for consideration of cautions and diversions for children and young people.Develop and maintain effective partnerships with project partners, including police and relevant youth and community legal service providers, around a shared goal and strong commitment to working together, fostering changes in culture and attitudes towards positive outcomes for children and young people.Prepare reports, including briefing notes, project updates and correspondence.Represent Victoria Police at relevant meetings, forums, and events.As the successful applicant, you will have: Prior experience in roles focused on the provision of services to young people, including young people in contact with police or the criminal justice system.Demonstrated knowledge of the youth service sector and contemporary issues relevant to justice-involved young people.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills within the program management environment.Highly developed written skills and experience in the preparation of project plans, proposals, reports, and policies.Proven ability to engage constructively with a broad range of stakeholders.Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage resources to deliver an agreed scope of work within an agreed timeframe.Strong organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly and manage shifting priorities.Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Region/Department/Command.A proven record of ethical behaviour and consistent, sound judgement in making and influencing quality decisions and developing innovative solutions.Requirements and relevant information: One (1) VPS-5 fixed term position available until June 2028.Position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
