Primary Objective: The Skills unit is responsible for designing, managing, and implementing programs and initiatives to grow a capable and skilled workforce and support economic growth through the regions.
The Senior Project Officer will support the Skills Initiatives team in the development, management, delivery, and evaluation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) grant programs and initiatives that meet skills needs and improve employment outcomes of Northern Territory industry, business, and individuals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and manage policies, processes, and systems to support the timely and compliant delivery of funded initiatives, programs, and projects.Research and develop tailored skilling programs in response to industry and community needs to improve employment outcomes.Manage contracts effectively end to end, including budgetary and financial aspects such as payments and acquittals.Participate in cross-divisional projects to support the implementation of responsive and streamlined services and systems.Develop and maintain effective collaborative stakeholder relationships and networks with relevant peers, industry, and government agencies.Provide accurate information and advice to stakeholders, including Registered Training Organisations and industry organisations to ensure successful initiative outcomes. Selection Criteria: Essential: Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to successfully convey messaging to ensure mutual understanding and to build and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.Demonstrated high-level project management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage changing and competing tasks and priorities within required timeframes, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to gather information from multiple resources, analyse and make recommendations, including the ability to link interconnected issues and consider influences and trends that may impact longer-term outputs.Demonstrated grant or program monitoring, reporting and assessment expertise, including the ability to execute, manage and acquit funding agreements whilst operating within and contributing to a compliant and accessible grants or contract management system.Knowledge and experience in an environment in which VET operates.Proven ability to be self-motivated and proactive, to work independently and effectively as a member of a team to achieve outcomes whilst managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
