This is a great opportunity to join a highly committed team supporting the conservation and protection of the environment and expand your skills in project management.About the roleNational Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to lead the delivery of the Fire Access Fire Trail (FAFT) program across the North-west Slopes & Plains, New England Tablelands, and wider Central North region. This position will lead the program for roading and fire trails across each location, and will coordinate with Area staff and contractors to deliver the on-ground works to the Rural Fire Service FAFT standards.The primary objective of the FAFT Program is to enhance the park's fire trail network and associated infrastructure to meet new Rural Fire Service fire trail standards and improve fire fighter safety.. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has the initiative, ability and desire to lead a small, dynamic and productive team. It would be desirable to have some public sector knowledge, and experience delivering construction projects within a natural resource setting or those with remote area logistical challenges. An understanding of road construction would be beneficial but not essential.As a Senior Project Officer you will manage a geographically dispersed project team responsible for planning, approvals, stakeholder engagement, procurement, contract supervision and delivering the on-ground capital works within required deadlines, to quality standards. You will be responsible for managing the FAFT branch budget to support the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.Please note this role will involve occasional travel (fully supported) to remote locations and towns within the Northern Inland Branch, an incredibly diverse branch that encompasses approximately 23% of the state, stretching from the eastern escarpment of the Great Dividing Range to the semi-arid floodplains of the Darling River in the west. Once you see a North-West sunset you never forget it!About youYour passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and proficiency in project management will be key to your success in this role.
