The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team
Joining the Doctrine and Readiness team at the AEC presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of world-class electoral services that are at the heart of our Australian democracy. As a Senior Project Officer in the section, you will collaborate with colleagues across the country to support and guide the AEC in a range of electoral event planning processes, with a focus on user-centred design.
You will use evidence and best practice to create and maintain key resources and uphold the AEC's commitment to continuous improvement. Additionally, you will play an instrumental role in the sections Leadership Team, ensuring that our work has a strong strategic focus, shaping a proactive and inquisitive culture, and championing a commitment to service design and human-centred outcomes.
The Opportunity
The role is responsible for undertaking complex and/or sensitive work, under broad direction, utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to the provision of appropriate policies and frameworks to facilitate the delivery of compliant and robust electoral events.
To excel you'll have:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to tailor messages and information for a variety of internal channels and audiences of varying seniority.
High organisational skills with strong ability to contribute to various concurrent projects/activities, including attention to detail and delivering results while managing competing schedules.
Ability to develop, manage and evaluate activities applying both strategic, high-level thinking and operational, detailed focused perspectives.
Proven ability to collaborate by building and managing relationship within business areas across geographically dispersed organisation.
A strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC's strategic direction.
Ability to work in a dynamic operational environment with prescriptive legislation.
Proven conceptual and analytical abilities, able to support a positive culture when change is a constant. Knowledge of innovation techniques and ability to market the value of time spent innovating.

Desirable

Relevant qualifications in policy development, management, business, public administration or similar.
Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.

AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
