Primary objective: To provide expert technical advice, coordination, management, and support in driving the engineering design process for Darwin's next major water supply infrastructure project, the Adelaide River Off-stream Water Storage (AROWS) Project.
Context Statement: Infrastructure NT, the Northern Territory's infrastructure body, undertakes strategic infrastructure planning and development that coordinates and aligns infrastructure needs with economic and population growth, and delivers nationally significant infrastructure projects.
The AROWS project is a unique and innovative major water infrastructure project that can deliver complementary outcomes of water availability and environmental sustainability.
Key duties and responsibilities: Manage and provide expert technical advice and support in the delivery of complex activities for the AROWS scheme, including water pumps, pipes, treatment plants, dams, roads, and other water infrastructure engineering elements.
Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with project team members and key internal and external stakeholders; including critical analysis and advice on the coordination of design development activities against other project clearance interfaces.
Provide project and contract management support to the Senior Engineer to achieve project objectives; including procurement activities, scoping, risk management assessments, estimating, quality, and record management systems.
Coordinate and manage various technical contracts and consultancies to ensure compliance.
Support and show leadership in advising a diverse team on technical and legislation/compliance matters, Australian Standards, and practices/guidelines with particular reference to the NT.
Contribute to and/or conduct more complex investigations, challenging operational and construction model problems and recommend solutions.
Selection criteria: Essential: A bachelor or higher degree in civil engineering or similar field from a recognised tertiary institution, and sound experience in civil design, pre-construction documentation development, and construction techniques and practices.
Strong project and contract management skills and high-level demonstrated knowledge and experience coordinating complex, multi-disciplined project elements of major civil infrastructure projects.
Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, and prioritise workload with demonstrated resilience and consistency.
Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills with the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise with a diverse group of stakeholders and provide concise and accurate reports, briefings, and submissions.
Desirable: Knowledge of NTG agency structures, policies, and processes.
Knowledge and experience in design/construction of major civil water infrastructure (water supply and delivery).
