Backed by its global expertise, the company is at the forefront of Australia's renewable energy industry.Position overviewTo excel in this role, you must possess a comprehensive understanding of the technical and commercial aspects of utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a strong focus on solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). You should demonstrate significant experience delivering solar and battery energy storage projects in the National Electricity Market (NEM), have a deep understanding of common development and delivery challenges, and excel at managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.This role is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects. This role encompasses all aspects of project development, from pre-approval planning to the final delivery and commissioning of projects. You will lead by example, contributing to team development while ensuring the successful execution of projects aligned with the highest standards of quality, safety, and innovation.Project Development:Support and manage various aspects of project development activities such as:post-approval management plans and strategies, andmanagement of technical due diligence required for financial close (debt & equity workstreams);Manage and perform various aspects of in-house engineering activities for the company's utility-scale projects such as energy performance modelling, layout development, and design & equipment optimisation;Appoint and oversee specialist external planning and technical consultants performing development and engineering activities;Support key aspects of project delivery on the Owner's side including EPC selection, design, construction, and commissioning;Provide engineering support for Nectr's emerging distributed energy platform (residential and commercial) and Virtual Power Plant;Assist the company's financial and technical evaluation, due diligence and cost benefit analysis of greenfield site selection and project acquisition;Support executive management with strategic directions for project development in the business plans, including integrating hybrid systems and Energy Storage System solutions;In conjunction with the Head of Project Development, develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders for each of the company's projects;Support the management of commercial and legal aspects of development approvals, community contributions, Planning Agreements, and neighbour agreements, to achieve a cost-effective commercial solution and implementable contracts for the projects;Assist in the timely lodgement of post-approval plans and responses to the Consent Authorities and relevant stakeholders;Monitor and follow-up permit compliance of company's projects in construction and operation phases;Provide regular reporting on project development activities, project schedules, milestones, budgets and risk management;Project Delivery:Manage all engineering activities related to project delivery, including oversight and management of the EPC Contractor's design and delivery activities, Owner's and Lender's engineers, and specialist consultants;Manage commercial activities in administering construction contracts, including processing progress claims and variations and resolving contract issues;Manage relationships with relevant external stakeholders;Manage development and review of project technical specifications in accordance with local and international standards as well as industry best-practice;Ensure all technical requirements of the project development consent are met;Manage the detailed design phase of projects to ensure specifications, quality and performance requirements are met;Oversee project staff to ensure compliance with project performance specifications, OH&S, Environmental compliance and quality assurance requirements;Travel to the site as required to fulfil other responsibilities successfully;Represent the owner throughout the commissioning process and manage coordination between the EPC, NSP, and AEMO together with internal/external Grid Specialist, ensuring the project complies with the National Electricity Rules and its Generator Performance Standards;Coordinate between construction and operations teams to successfully manage closeout of punch list items;Leadership:Support, manage and lead a team of renewable energy professionals to deliver high quality commercial and technical outcomes;Nurture and maintain high performance team cultureTake personal responsibility to manage and train junior team members and oversee their professional development;Work Experience & Skills7+ years' experience in a similar role (energy or utilities/essential services would be beneficial)A degree in a relevant Engineering discipline is preferred,Familiar with site access issues and OH&S requirements,Great understanding and awareness of zero harm safety,Strong and competitive work ethic,Clear and concise communicator,Strong analytical capabilities,Ability to work in a fast-paced and self-directed environment,Proficiency in business and project management software, including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Project/Primavera, Aconex etc.Familiarity with modern renewable energy technologies and trends.Experience with hybrid systems, grid integration, and large-scale renewable energy design.Understanding of compliance frameworks such as WHS regulations, environmental impact assessments, and ISO certifications.Individuals with a proven track record of project management and development and working with a variety of stakeholders to deliver great results while fostering a high-performance culture are highly regarded.
