The rapid transition to renewable energy generation and electrification of many sectors (transport, industry etc) has seen sharp rises in proposed transmission connection projects.Victorian Network Services & Delivery is a Department within AEMO's System Design Division with the key objective to deliver Victorian electricity transmission projects in the long-term interests of consumers. Critical to the achievement of this objective is program management to support the development and implementation of infrastructure projects to meet those needs (including procurement processes and contract management).About the roleWorking in a team of five this role will work alongside both internal and external consultant teams in the development of the Victoria New South Wales Interconnector West (VNIW) project to deliver AEMO's green energy transition goals.As a member of the VNI West Project Delivery Team, the role will work closely with project stream leads including Safety, Procurement, Commercial, Design, Environment and Land to ensure the project is delivered in a coordinated and safe manner to time, cost and quality targets.What you will be doingFacilitate, coordinate and project manage integration of the various VNIW workstreams to ensure progress to time, cost and quality targets.Lead and project manage resolution of issues that arise as part of the project delivery.Participate in the planning, scoping, procurement, management and review of consultant contracts.Identify project risks and issues, put forward mitigation measures and take action as required.Provide regular status reports and communications on the project, impacts and issues to stakeholders including senior management. Escalate through appropriate channels where required.Lead and coordinate the activities of junior staff and contractors/consultants & demonstrate behaviours that align to AEMO values and culture.Champion process improvement and implementation of efficiencies in ways of working.We are seeking a generalist who embraces challenges, thrives in unpredictable situations and excels at solving problems. This role offers autonomy and requires collaboration with a diverse group of people.This position will transfer to VicGrid in 12-18 months and be part of a growing infrastructure development and delivery organisation, with a pipeline of work that extends beyond 2050. If you think you have transferable skills, an appetite to learn and would be a great fit, we'd love to hear from you.What you will bring to the roleEducationTertiary qualifications in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management and significant experience of relevant industry experience.Experience and KnowledgeSignificant experience in the development and delivery of large scale multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, either Contractor or Client side coupled with strong interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving capability.The ideal person will possess experience with scheduling, budget and risk management with the ability to prepare and deliver high quality communications suitable for senior management and external stakeholders (both written and verbal).This position suits a self-starter and generalist with the confidence to apply themselves to diverse problems.
