We're changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change? The Project UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes: 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa, up to six new substation sites. This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Civil) to join the team on the Copperstring Project. What will a day in this role look like: Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications. Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary. Ensure project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings. Accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilise corrective action in line with JH's authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin. Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards. Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work. Ensure that the survey of installations throughout the project is conducted in a professional manner with all results being reviewed and accepted as correct with actions coordinated and documented. Assist the Project Manager with compliance to the documentation required under the UGL Management System. Assist the Project Manager in preparation of monthly reports and also attend the monthly report meetings with Client. What are we looking for you to bring to the team: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent. Diploma of Project Management in Engineering Science, Building, Construction or equivalent. Master's Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years engineering experience with 4+ years site based. Experience on > $50 M Projects. Project Engineer and operational experience. Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally. Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands. Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, email.
