About us Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.
We will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future.
Queensland Hydro will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system The role This role, based in onsite, will play a pivotal part in our project program, providing engineering expertise across earthworks, roads, bridges, pipelines, and other essential structures.
The role requires technical leadership, overseeing project systems, specifications, and ensuring quality through detailed inspection, testing, and verification.
In addition to contributing to project planning and on-site execution, the Senior Project Engineer will guide the design process and develop asset management strategies for completed projects.
This dynamic role offers a balance of hands-on project work and strategic planning.
There are 3 Senior Project Engineer Civil roles open to all qualified candidates.
Key Accountabilities Provide technical support both on-site and remotely.
Assist with the on-site delivery of surface civil infrastructure.
Review and ensure designs, drawings, reports, and specifications meet project requirements.
Advise and support the Project Manager on technical issues, risks, and contractor inquiries.
Manage the technical workload and development of team members, including engineers, interns, and contractors.
Help develop asset management strategies, standards, and inspection programs for ongoing asset maintenance.
Conduct and assist with on-site environmental, safety, and quality audits.
Oversee quality assurance, including inspections, hold points, and testing.
Promote compliance with Health and Safety regulations and encourage team awareness.
Prepare regular performance reports for the Project Manager on technical and productivity aspects.
About you Degree qualification, Civil Engineering.
Registered Engineer or eligible to be registered.
Minimum 7 years post graduate experience.
Knowledge of relevant Codes and Australian Standards.
Strong technical report writing with clear verbal communication skills.
Awareness of health and safety, commercial and contractual risks.
Experience in delivering major infrastructure projects within Government owned entities.
