We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.
Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have rapidly growing community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health and wellbeing outcomes, particularly among local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We also work alongside Poche SA+NT, and key partners such as Indigenous Allied Health Australia, focussing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership capacity development and developing the NT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce. All activities are driven by our values and local community needs.
About the Role We are seeking a Senior Program Manager (Remote Health Pathways) to join our Rural and Remote Health Team working in the Northern Territory. The Senior Program Manager will be accountable for achieving key project milestones and working with key stakeholders to coordinate the Youth Engagement in Allied Health (YEAH!) project – a Regional Partnerships Project Pool Program (RPPPP) funded by the Australian Government. This is a partnership with Indigenous Allied Health Australia, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, and the National Association of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners. The intent is to build the aspirations of remote Indigenous youth in Alice Springs, Katherine, and Nhulunbuy to pursue education, training, and career pathways in Allied Health and Aboriginal Primary Health Care. The position will be accountable for providing key project leadership, by way of secretariat governance support, delivery of community engagement and outreach activities, resource development, partnership development, supervision of staff, financial management, research co-ordination, and leading reporting and knowledge translation activities. Working closely with the Flinders Rural and Remote Health leadership team, you will provide timely and effective project coordination and represent Flinders through rural Northern Territory and interstate, as required. Our Program Manager will establish and maintain strong cultural relationships, both internally and externally across multiple sites – particularly in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
About You To be successful in this position, our ideal candidate will be an experienced project manager, highlighting a successful history of project planning and implementation, and an ability to understand the necessities of cross-cultural project engagement. A highly organised and analytical person by nature, you are driven to foster a positive workplace culture – in particular by role modelling behaviours that support the University's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and commitment to enhancing educational and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Additionally, we will be looking for someone who can demonstrate: Relevant progression towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.Skills in taking initiative, exercising judgment, and working collaboratively with stakeholders.An understanding of the challenges to creating and supporting place-based education, training, and career pathway development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote settings.Experience working in Allied Health and/or Aboriginal primary health care contexts in remote Australia (desirable).An understanding of NT and national health and/or higher education policy contexts (desirable).Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (desirable)Life at Flinders We're transforming and investing in people and facilities to create contemporary, stimulating, and satisfying learning and work environments that reflect our core values of excellence, innovation, courage, and integrity.
