THE ROLE The Senior Program Adviser, Operational Child Safeguarding plays a key role in the development, implementation and ongoing administration of a range of child safeguarding mechanisms to promote the wellbeing and safety of children.
Safeguarding functions may be connected to Child Safe Standards, Working with Children Checks, and the management of intelligence concerning subjects of current and historical allegations of abuse.
The position will be part of a small team that will be leading the establishment of a new intelligence function, drawing on, synthesising and assessing information from across the department related to subjects of allegations of harm against children.
The position will lead the development of a detailed policy to guide the way in which this intelligence can inform future decision making.
This is an exciting role with a focus on contributing to a unique combination of policy and operational work to effect improvements in the way the department uses intelligence to safeguard children.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and senior staff and develop innovative strategies and methods which assist the Operational Child Safeguarding Team to deliver on key initiatives.Support the identification and reporting of high risk matters or possible system-wide improvements stemming from compliance, risk assessment and learning and development activities.Ensure operations and practice initiatives meet the department's strategic directions for managing and delivering high quality services.HOW TO APPLY All VPS employees (and ex-VPS employees with extended access to the Jobs and Skills Exchange website) MUST apply via the Jobs and Skills Exchange portal.
