ADZ Energy is an Australian Exploration and Production company focused on the discovery, development and production of world class gas and associated liquids resources, delivering to the East Coast Domestic Gas Market.
We operate the Kincora Gas Plant, currently producing 4TJ/d, with a well intervention and drilling program in place to increase production to 12TJ/d in the short term and to 25TJ/d in the long term.
ADZ Energy will remain focused on accelerating gas and liquids production from its Kincora Gas Project in Queensland. The Group's portfolio includes a mix of conventional and unconventional, high-quality oil and gas prospects across multiple basins with a range of project maturity that will realise near-term value accretion and mid- to long-term transformational growth across its Northern Territory, Victoria and South Australia jurisdictions.
POSITION PURPOSE As a Production Technologist (PT) you will play an essential and unique role by interfacing with and co-ordinating between Reservoir, Well, Surface Engineering and Production Operations. You will be involved throughout the complete lifecycle of wells and fields.
Reporting into General Manager Subsurface, you will be responsible for optimising and managing the production of hydrocarbons from conventional oil and gas reservoirs. This involves working collaboratively to implement technologies and strategies that enhance well performance, increase production efficiency and ensure the safe and environmentally compliant operation of production facilities.
Your primary accountabilities will include modelling and optimising well inflow and outflow performance, conceptual well and completion design, design of well/reservoir interface, Well Reservoir Facilities Management (including production/gathering system modelling and optimisation) and Well Integrity Management (including specification of the operating envelope for the well). You will manage and analyse wells and reservoir performance against plan, maintain the well models, with focus on the impact of completion/well intervention decisions on production performance over the life of the well.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong technical background in Production Technology, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Overall, your role as a Production Technologist will be critical in ensuring the successful management and development of the Operating asset, and you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the overall success of the team and the company.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Well Production Optimisation: Analyse well performance data, production rates and reservoir characteristics to identify opportunities for optimisation. Develop and implement production enhancement strategies. Well Completion Design: Lead the design of well completions, incorporating best practices production tubing, perforating and stimulation techniques. Collaborate with Projects, drilling and completion teams to ensure that well completions align with reservoir characteristics and production goals. Artificial Lift Systems: Design, select, and optimise artificial lift systems to maximise hydrocarbon recovery. Conduct performance evaluations of artificial lift systems and recommend adjustments or replacements as needed. Well Intervention and Workovers: Plan well intervention activities to improve or restore well productivity. Collaborate with Projects, drilling and completion teams to execute workover programs, including equipment selection and execution oversight. Well Integrity and Surveillance: Perform well integrity assessments and implement preventive measures to ensure the reliability and safety of production assets. Utilise surveillance technologies to monitor well and reservoir behaviour, identifying any deviations or potential issues. Production Forecasting and Reporting: Collaborate with Reservoir Engineers to provide accurate production forecasts based on reservoir models and historical data. Generate regular reports on key production metrics, trends, and optimisation initiatives for management and stakeholders.Working closely with internal stakeholders including Subsurface, Projects and Operations, ensure all business assumptions are incorporated into forecasting schedules and development plans. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyse production data, well tests, and pressure data to diagnose production issues and recommend corrective actions. Utilise data-driven insights to continuously improve production performance and efficiency. Prepare and present Well Reviews, capturing all learnings for future well programmes. Technology Evaluation and Implementation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices related to production optimisation. Evaluate new technologies and tools, making recommendations for adoption to improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs. Be a team player and assist other colleagues in processes and workflows as required. For example safe work practices and procedures in accordance with ADZ's safety policies. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Required Formal Qualifications or Trade experience:
University Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or relevant, with 15+ years of industry experience. 5+ experience in artificial lift systems, production optimisation techniques and well intervention strategies. Strong knowledge of well completion design. Proficiency in using production engineering software and tools (Pipesim, Prosper, GAP). Desirable Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Personal Attributes It is desirable that the incumbent is able to demonstrate experience and/or knowledge in the following:
Deep understanding of production engineering principles and practices. Effective communication skills to understand client needs, present findings, and provide recommendations in a clear and understandable manner. Proficient in preparing detailed and comprehensive reports, including technical documents and non-technical summaries. Adapt to changing priorities, manages multiple projects, and deliver results under tight deadlines. Self-starter / self-motivation. Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills, good team player; enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams including Geology, Operations and Commercial. Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and champions innovative solutions. Demonstrated ability to convey a professional and positive image of the business. Availability to travel to the field and the Kincora Gas Plant at least four times per year.
