About the role
In this role, you will provide support to the Coordinator Procurement Services in the provision of policy and procedural development ensuring Council's tendering and procurement processes accord with probity and legislative requirements. 
Work type: Permanent, full-time Classification: Band 7 ($100,064 - $110,990) Key responsibilities include:
Managing the calling and evaluation of complex tenders and quotations.Assisting in the allocation of work priorities to meet Unit workload and corporate objectives.Providing advice and assistance to staff involved in sourcing quotations and ensures they accord with Council's management procedures and guidelines to minimise Council's contract liabilities.Providing advice and assistance in developing Council's purchasing processes and practices, which will give rise to value for money outcomes.Ensuring the public tender process and evaluation, seeking works, good and services, is fair, transparent and compliant.Preparing or reviewing reports recommending the appointment of contractor(s) for consideration by the Executive Management Team or management.Advising or assisting departmental staff in seeking quotations for works, goods and services which minimises Council's purchasing risk.About you
To be successful in this role, you will have skills and proficiency in the preparation and supervision of tenders and tender specifications.
Excellent negotiation skills, particularly in areas of pre-contract negotiations.Extensive experience knowledge of the purchasing, public tendering and competition processes.Experience in supervision of contract administration and contract management.Understanding of technical literature, standards, manuals and codes of practice.Effectively liaise with counterparts within the industry, all levels of council staff and external contractors and suppliers including assisting other business units with project delivery.Ability to successfully negotiate and resolve conflict.Ability to prepare effective, clear and concise reports and correspondence on matters relating to the position.The health and safety of our people is our highest priority.
