Our client is a major utilities provider seeking a Senior Category Specialist to join the project and delivery team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to strategise and develop procurement processes across the construction services category in alignment with business goals and project delivery. The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute to the development and implementation of category management plans and strategies, ensuring infrastructure projects are delivered.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Procurement Category Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the procurement strategy within the organisation. You will also be responsible for evaluating supply alternatives, planning negotiation strategies, conducting market research, managing risks, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and promoting a culture of innovation.
Contribute to the development and implementation of robust sourcing and category management plans and strategies to drive efficiencies and achieve value for moneyMonitor spend and develop strategies to minimise uncontrolled spend across assigned categoriesEvaluate supply alternatives through various procurement methodsPlan, develop and execute negotiation strategies on supply arrangementsConduct market research to identify opportunities for strategic sourcing and supplier consolidationIdentify and manage commercial, contractual, operational and ethical risksDevelop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersDevelop a culture of innovation and continuous improvement with internal and external stakeholders
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Procurement Category Specialist role brings experience in procurement category strategies and exposure to complex construction/infrastructure contracts.
Qualifications in a relevant discipline (Procurement, Law, Supply Chain) or 3-5 years' relevant experience in procurement, legal, finance, project management or any related areaAwareness of consumer and competition lawKnowledge and understanding of procurement governance or best practice procurement policiesNegotiation and influencing skillsAdept at strategy and planningExceptional communication and interpersonal skills
