About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our team.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance of our smelting processes and driving technological advancements within our operations.
Your work will typically be strategic, and you can expect to consult with managerial, technical, and engineering teams to ensure top performance of smelting processes through specialised problem-solving and process development.
Fostering a technical culture, mentoring technical, engineering, and developing core competencies within the team is a core focus.
Further scope will entail you to:Plan, research, and develop technologies to meet business needs, including acquiring and implementing effective process technologies.Lead specialised technical or engineering projects, from feasibility assessments to project reviews, ensuring successful execution and alignment with business goals.Develop networks with external technology providers to complement internal skills and recommend effective use of these resources.Monitor and analyse technical performance, advising management on achievable operating parameters and targets.Drive change and innovation through structured improvement activities, focusing on cost reduction, asset utilization, continuous improvement, and waste reduction.What's on offer:Career development opportunities to pursue your passionMonthly Leisure Day Benefits allowancePerformance related bonus (variable)16 weeks paid parental leave schemePaid annual volunteer hoursSocial and diversity focused engagement opportunitiesWhat you can bring to the role:Bachelor of Engineering; Chemical or similar.Proven experience in a similar technical or engineering role within the smelting industry desirable.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply in-depth technical knowledge.Excellent project management skills, with experience in leading specialised technical projects.Ability to mentor and develop technical teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Well-developed interpersonal skills to lead discussions and negotiations, and to convey outcomes of decisions to various work groups.Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations and risk management processes.Disclaimer:Please note that applications close midday Australian Western Standard Time of the posting end date.

About the LocationOur Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%).
Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia's total aluminium production in Portland.
