Project Overview: Bechtel Mining & Metals are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to work in our Brisbane office on our projects and studies in the Asia-Pacific region. In this office we carry out jobs on a wide range of commodities including copper, uranium, gold, alumina, rare earths, lithium, iron ore, phosphates and others.
Job Summary: As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be working as part of a team under the supervision of the Lead Process Engineer to deliver studies and projects for our mining customers. You will be working with other engineering disciplines, procurement and construction to deliver projects that meet and exceed our customer's expectations for quality, cost, schedule, safety and benefit to their business. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities: Assist the Lead Process Engineer to lead the team, such as by taking responsibility for a portion of the design and by mentoring the more-junior team members.
Develop and check the process deliverables that are typical of detailed engineering (such as design criteria, mass & energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, P&IDs, control philosophy).
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, vendors, consultants, subject matter experts and client teams to deliver the project successfully.
Contribute to the review and optimizations of project design, cost, safety, constructability, and schedule.
Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing or Chemical Engineering and 8-10 years of relevant experience in the minerals industry.
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or will be registered in the first 3 months of employment.
Required Knowledge and Skills: At least 4 years of experience as an engineer working in detailed design in the minerals industry, including direct experience in developing the typical detailed engineering deliverables.
Experience in engineering design of copper/gold processes and hydrometallurgy will be highly regarded.
Well-developed skills in teamwork, communication and problem solving.
Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
