About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior/Principal Marine Consultant to lead and manage complex marine environmental projects, particularly within the oil and gas and ports/harbours sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, an in-depth understanding of both state and commonwealth environmental legislation, and demonstrated expertise in preparing and reviewing high-quality technical reports. You will oversee the successful delivery of marine surveys and environmental assessments, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the delivery of environmental assessments, impact studies, and monitoring programs for projects in the oil and gas and ports/harbours sectors.Provide strategic environmental advice to clients, ensuring compliance with relevant state and commonwealth legislation.Prepare, review, and deliver high-quality technical reports and regulatory submissions, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with project objectives.Manage project budgets, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on project progress and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams, including scientists, field staff, and subcontractors.Lead the preparation of project scopes, proposals, and tenders, working closely with the business development team to identify new opportunities.Ensure all project activities are compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly for offshore operations.Mentor and support junior staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.Project Management Skills: Budget management: Monitor project actual and forecast expenditures, ensuring that all costs are aligned with the approved budget.Deliverable tracking: Manage project schedules and ensure timely delivery of all project outputs and reports.Client liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring their needs are met.Risk management: Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle.Resource planning: Coordinate the allocation of personnel and resources to ensure project success.Skills and Experience: 10+ years of experience in marine environmental consulting, particularly in the oil and gas and/or ports/harbours sectors.Strong understanding of state and commonwealth environmental legislation and experience preparing regulatory submissions.Proven experience in leading complex projects, including marine monitoring programs, offshore environmental surveys and/or marine impact assessments.Demonstrated strength in report writing and report review, ensuring high standards of quality and technical accuracy.Excellent client management and communication skills, with experience liaising with government agencies, regulators, and industry stakeholders.Proficiency in managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with strong problem-solving skills.Experience in marine monitoring programs, habitat mapping, and environmental impact assessments.Knowledge of geophysical and geotechnical surveys is advantageous.Familiarity with environmental management frameworks and industry best practices.Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Marine Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.Project management certification is a plus.Why Join O2 Marine?: Work in a company that values innovation, growth, and a supportive work culture.Competitive salary and benefits package.Flexible working arrangements, with options to work from Perth, Busselton, Geraldton or Albany.Opportunities for professional development and career progression within a rapidly growing company. #J-18808-Ljbffr
