Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development) Full time Kummara Ltd. is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisation established in 1999 to provide support to vulnerable families at risk.
The organisation's objective is to support the long-term wellbeing and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
Kummara offers many programs and works in partnership with families for the achievement of independence and strengthening of the family's capabilities.
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner who will be responsible for delivering quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families, and the community.
The Senior Practitioner will work across our two First Nations Programs, in our Early Years Support Service, the Helping Families Connect Program, (Inala) and the Connected Beginnings Program (Ipswich).
The Helping Families Connect Program partners with schools, the community, other agencies, and professionals to meet the family's needs and create opportunities and pathways for positive family functioning and wellbeing.
This program focuses on school engagement, providing a targeted approach to support families with children (0-18 years) who are vulnerable or disadvantaged in the regions of Brisbane South, Redlands, and Ipswich LGA, utilising existing and fostering new partnerships with Government and non-Government agencies while providing culturally sensitive support and case management.The Connected Beginnings Program facilitates yarns with families, parents who are expecting and/or have children 0-5 years, Elders, stakeholders, and community members to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children's and families' engagement with health and early childhood education and care.
The program aims to improve access to existing early childhood, maternal and child health, and family support services so children are safe, healthy, and ready to thrive at school by the age of five.Key Requirements: Provide consultation, guidance, and leadership to Community Connectors and Family Support Practitioners in delivering high-quality outreach family support services within a child-safe context.Actively participate in and lead multidisciplinary meetings, supervision sessions, case conferences, and case reviews to ensure best practice service delivery.Provide case management support to families.Collect data to capture community voice and ensure effective operations according to KPI's.Liaise with the community and build effective relationships with Traditional Owners and cultural leaders.Contribute to program and organisational continuous development and planning.To be successful, you will possess: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or a related discipline.Minimum 2 years preferred providing formal supervision and leadership in the community services sector.Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams, supervision, and/or demonstrated experience in a range of mental health and/or child protection services facilitating case reviews/case consultation.Experience in evidence-based practice and data collection, research, and evaluation.High level written and verbal communication skills; confident in documenting case notes and using database systems.Excellent relationship building skills; the ability to foster strong internal and external connections in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner, respecting diverse perspectives and practices.Effective interpersonal skills including but not limited to communication, conflict resolution, leadership, and a positive attitude.Mandatory: Have and maintain a relevant Queensland Driver's License.Have and maintain all relevant and legislative personal history probity checks inclusive of WWC Blue card Qld and Licensed care checks.What We Offer: SCHADS Award position (level 5, depending upon experience and/or qualifications)Salary sacrificing (up to $15,900.00)Access to EAPProfessional development and training opportunitiesHow to apply: Applications are to be submitted directly through SEEK including a cover letter (no more than 2 pages) outlining your skills and experience in reference to the mandatory requirements noted above.
