About this role
The candidate would fit into an established technical consulting team based in Brisbane, working with a broader cohort of regionally based energy professionals. Working on a range of Australian and international assignments in the energy and renewable power sector from small scale generation to utility sized generation and storage. Technology would cover solar PV, battery energy storage, offshore/onshore wind, pumped hydro energy storage, and hydrogen.
Relevant workstreams would cover power systems studies, grid connection modelling, renewable energy studies, and front-end engineering design. The candidate would be primarily involved in network modelling (steady state and dynamic) associated with the preparation of Generator Performance Standards (GPS); Releasable User Guides (RUG) and other technical documentation associated with the submission of Connection Agreements and Generator Registrations on behalf of generators who wish to connect to the National Energy Market (NEM). The candidate would need a high degree of flexibility to work on a variety of projects and workstreams. The candidate will work under supervision with a high degree of autonomy.
What will I do? Build rapport and networks with internal and external stakeholders Gain a good understanding of customer needs. Project Management: meeting deadlines, monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets in your own area; Represent Arup at internal and external events and you may be responsible for designing and delivering activities and projects which impact the business; Responsible for the performance and development of others through providing guidance, training, direction and feedback. What will I bring? A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with approximately 7+ years of industry experience; Approximately 3 years of power system modelling experience Experience undertaking Network modelling associated with the preparation of Generator Performance Standards (GPS); Releasable User Guides (RUG) for Solar farms and wind farms Experience performing Due Diligence studies on behalf of Network Service Providers (NSPs) and AEMO to assess Connection Agreement and Generator Registration applications. Relevant experience with Python, PSCAD, PSSE and Powerfactory Relevant industry experience in power systems studies for large scale generation and storage Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership; Enthusiasm to develop technical and commercial knowledge outside of thermal generation sector by working on projects in the renewables, waste & resources and utilities sectors would be advantageous.
