We are seeking a Senior Portfolio Engineer to develop and manage an engineering program of work at SA Water, ensuring the successful delivery of our Capital framework. This role is essential in driving high-quality, customer-focused engineering solutions through effective collaboration, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. In this position, you will be a key interface between Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, and various engineering and infrastructure teams, managing relationships and ensuring that technical and delivery risks are well understood. You'll lead initiatives to improve capital portfolio efficiency, safety, and governance practices, setting a high standard for quality and risk management.
Your responsibilities for this opportunity:
Promote a culture of safety by taking responsibility for the wellbeing of yourself and others, ensuring fitness for work, and conducting safety leadership walks on project sites.
Serve as a liaison between engineering teams, capital delivery partners, and program managers, fostering timely engagement and consistent support for project and program needs.
Develop a pipeline of capital program outputs in collaboration with the Portfolio Manager, aligning with business and customer requirements.
Oversee the effective delivery of pre-award engineering activities and manage key technical risks to inform delivery strategies.
Champion process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in capital portfolio delivery, providing monthly reports on performance metrics.
Represent Engineering in risk assessment discussions, ensuring that key meetings and documents clearly communicate risk levels to partners.
Support engineering quality audits and ensure compliance with standards and guidelines.
Your success in this role will come from:
A professional engineering qualification (B.Eng) in a relevant discipline.
Proven ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate effectively.
Strong background in the preparation of professional reports, technical writing, and design management.
Experience in engineering design, design review, and the development and review of infrastructure standards.
Project management experience or relevant qualifications (desirable).
Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to optimise project delivery outcomes.
A proactive, service-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
