Outstanding opportunity for a News Reporter to join Australia's largest media organisation. Work for NewsCorp's breaking Newswire service providing valuable content for all mastheads, news.com.au and the Australian as well as external clients.
This role will work within our existing team to cover political news out of Canberra. This is a full time, permanent position based out of News Corp office in Parliament House.
Key ResponsibilitiesPitch and generate original news stories and ideasBreak political news storiesMaintain an accurate and up to date calendarFile engaging copy to strict deadlinesDevelop and maintain good relationships with key political playersLiaise with CoS (Politics) on daily coverage, planning and key eventsRespond to breaking news events outside of rostered hours when requiredWho are you?At least two years of journalism/newsroom experience, preferably in political reportingAbility to cut through spin and get to the heart of issues in an engaging way for readersPrevious experience covering breaking newsCapable of multitasking and working under strict deadlinesTeam player with strong communication skillsKeen attention to detailAble to simplify complex topics for a broad audienceFlexibility around working day and hoursNews Benefits is our way of saying thank you to our people for their valued contribution to News, our audiences, clients and communities.
