Senior Policy, Program, and Regulatory Officers Full time

Australia exports over $35 billion worth of animal products annually to more than 100 countries.
This includes some of Australia's best meat, dairy, seafood, eggs, and non-prescribed goods .
In this role, you'll directly contribute to supporting our valuable agricultural export industries, regional communities and farmers, and Australia's economic growth.

Our Exports and Veterinary Services Division ensures Australian agricultural products meet global standards while helping to maintain and expand global market access for our exporters and farmers.
We regulate, test, inspect, and certify exports for compliance with Australian and importing country requirements while negotiating and engaging with our trading partners.

This is where you play an important role.
You'll be key in maintaining, expanding, and improving our national agricultural production and certification services, ensuring high standards across the supply chain, ensuring global consumers and trading partners of the premium and safe nature of Australian agricultural goods.

Whether it's directly negotiating with trading partners, regulating our exporters and export production facilities, intervening to resolve detained trade, providing scientific and regulatory policy advice, facilitating licensing and certification, coordinating international audits, or overseeing our National Residue Survey.
These are just some of the dozens of roles within the Exports and Veterinary Services Division that are critically important and need people like you to ensure Australian farmers and exporters of animal products can continue to get their products into global markets.

What You Can Do With Us:
Master Regulatory Frameworks: You'll become an expert in export regulations, applying your knowledge to ensure compliance within the export sector and guide our operations.
Negotiation and Market Access: You will lead a team that engages with global trading partners directly and at international forums to negotiate market access arrangements and standards to Australia's advantage.
Provide Expert Advice: Offer clear and accurate advice on legislation, policies, and technical matters, supporting the department's regulatory responsibilities.
Analyse and Report: Dive deep into compliance data, evaluate findings, and contribute to evidence-based policy development.
Create Key Documents: Develop important briefs, ministerial and executive correspondence, reports, and presentations that drive our mission forward.
Engage with Stakeholders: Represent our branch and the department in meetings with internal stakeholders, industry partners, and other government agencies.
You'll build and maintain productive relationships that are crucial to our success.
Collaborate and Contribute: Work closely with your team in a fast-paced, evolving environment to support our regulatory functions.
Manage Applications: Handle complex applications that are key to our regulatory activities, ensuring everything runs smoothly and on time.
Lead Administrative Efforts: Oversee administrative tasks, ensure compliance with legislative timeframes, and prepare essential instructional materials.

Understanding of policy development and adherence to regulations.

Strong interpersonal skills to build productive relationships.
The following experience is highly desirable for the role:
Experience in the public service supporting policy and regulation, or in a program administration role.
An understanding or qualifications and experience related to government policy, regulation, food safety, or animal production systems.
