Salary: Clerk Grade ($120,859 pa - $133,183 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)
We're looking for: a talented Senior Policy Officer to join the Disability Policy and Engagement team, to help us advance significant national disability reforms.
Your role: Disability Policy and Engagement provides policy advice and coordination to drive and monitor the NSW Government's response to and implementation of Disability Royal Commission reforms. We work right across the NSW Government on this complex, whole of government policy area.
The team is also responsible for developing advice to government on specific Disability Royal Commission recommendation areas and supports NSW disability governance.
You will be joining a small team committed to inclusion and making a real impact on the lives of people with disability.
About you: We're looking for a dynamic and agile policy professional, with top-notch writing skills and a knack for collaboration. You will bring a mix of policy and project skills to lead policy coordination and development.
You are a critical thinker and excellent communicator, experienced in building strong partnerships with stakeholders to work through challenges and to develop timely and effective solutions. You will be comfortable working across a range of topics and issues, and able to quickly adapt in an evolving reform environment.
What we're looking for: Experience in developing and coordinating significant policy reforms, in partnership with diverse government and non-government stakeholders. Demonstrated capacity to work across diverse policy issues with minimal supervision, often to tight deadlines. A skilled communicator, with excellent writing skills and who presents confidently to diverse audiences and generates effective and engaging communication materials. Strong critical thinking and analysis skills to provide robust advice and policy options. Savvy project manager who develops and uses smart processes to keep multifaceted work on track. A sound understanding of the issues and concerns facing the disability community and/or government processes to respond to and report on inquiries or commissions is highly valued. What you'll do: Provide advice to Government on priority policy issues relating to national disability reforms, particularly the Disability Royal Commission. Develop policy positions, and coordinate implementation and progress reporting - including review and analysis of NSW agency advice. Engage across the NSW Government and with the Commonwealth and states and territories to determine positions and next steps to progress reform implementation. Support engagement with disability stakeholders and organisations, including through the NSW Disability Council and stakeholder forums. Develop policy briefs for the Minister and DCJ's executive and papers for governance bodies, including the NSW Disability Board. Supporting the NSW Disability Directors Forum, including through secretariat support and engaging with forum members.
