The Aboriginal Engagement Directorate works to build positive relationships between Aboriginal people and the WA Government to deliver mutual and lasting benefits by developing a whole-of-government Aboriginal affairs strategy focusing on engagement, leveraging economic opportunity and systems reform; shaping the State's approach and engagement with Aboriginal communities to resolve claims and leverage community defined opportunities; and partnering and building relationships with communities to deliver positive outcomes, through implementation of agreements and projects.
The Aboriginal Engagement Directorate is responsible for leading and supporting the development of key initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders that give effect to the Aboriginal Empowerment Strategy and National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
The Community Policy Unit provides advice and support to the Premier, Ministers and the Director General on matters that affect the Western Australian community, with a particular focus on tackling long-term social challenges and improving outcomes for vulnerable Western Australians.
The team is responsible for leading and coordinating cross-government social policy development and implementation and engages with State Government agencies, the community sector and other stakeholders to support improved wellbeing and social outcomes for all Western Australians.
About the Role These roles provide policy support and advice and assists with research and data analysis in relation to the development, implementation and review of Government policies from a cross-portfolio perspective.
