Multiple positions are available in the Chemicals, Occupational Diseases and Hygiene Policy Branch to deliver on high priority work on hazardous chemicals, silicosis, and other occupational diseases.
We are seeking skilled and professional candidates to be part of our exciting work. Ideal candidates will have the following capabilities:
be able to work as part of a team and have good interpersonal skills write clearly and persuasively under general direction and guidance have a probing mind, think through problems and be able to organise work provide accurate and timely information and advice be willing to develop their own skills and knowledge Experience in policy development or a scientific background is highly desirable.
As an APS 6 Senior Policy Officer your key duties will include contributing to the development of national work health and safety (WHS) policy related to preventing exposure to hazardous chemicals and occupational diseases through:
undertaking complex research and analysis to inform national WHS policy undertaking and/or managing procurement of specialist services to inform national policy preparing high-quality briefs, papers and guidance on relevant policy matters, including papers for consideration by SWA Members liaising with internal and external stakeholders and managing key stakeholder relationships contributing to the section's planning and prioritisation including by contributing your ideas on potential new initiatives and policy approaches to drive continual improvement supporting the Assistant Directors, Director and Senior Executive to contribute to the success of the Sections, Branch and Agency APS 6 Senior Policy Officers may also be required to supervise staff and ensure quality outputs for their team, including developing expertise required within the team and setting work priorities and practices.
