By integrating Indigenous knowledges, values, and ways of working, this organisation provides a culturally safe and inclusive environment where your contributions will make a real difference.The OpportunityAs a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving evidence-based policies and strategies to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Reporting to the Assistant Director, SEWB Policy Partnership, you will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to deliver impactful policy recommendations and reports.Your responsibilities will include:Policy Development: Analyse trends, challenges, and opportunities to develop high-quality policy papers, briefs, and submissions that align with organisational objectives.Research and Evidence: Lead research initiatives, critically analysing literature, policy documents, and data to provide evidence-based insights for policy development.Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government agencies, and NGOs, to gather insights and foster consensus.Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and briefings that clearly communicate policy positions and research findings to inform decision-making.Project Management: Plan, manage, and deliver projects from inception to evaluation, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and timely completion.Policy Guidance and Mentoring: Provide expertise and advice on policy matters, offering guidance and mentorship to junior staff.Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of emerging trends and best practices to enhance policy development processes and outcomes.About YouYou will thrive in this role if you are motivated by driving positive change and possess the following qualifications, experience, and skills:You will leverage your tertiary qualifications in health or related fields, coupled with relevant professional experience.You will demonstrate your ability to develop and implement strategies that deliver tangible and measurable outcomes in the not-for-profit or public policy sectors.You will use your excellent organisational and time management skills to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.You will draw on your expertise in policy development and research to deliver high-quality, evidence-based policy recommendations.You will utilise your ability to engage with diverse stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships and drive consensus on critical issues.You will apply your project management experience to successfully lead and deliver initiatives aligned with organisational objectives.This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities while working in a supportive, collaborative, and culturally safe environment.
