Justice and Attorney-General (Organisation site) First Nations Justice Office; Justice Policy and Reform; Brisbane CBD The First Nations Justice Office (FNJO) was established as part of the Queensland Government's response to the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce report Hear her voice – Report One – Addressing coercive control and domestic and family violence in Queensland to address the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland's criminal justice system and meet Queensland's National Agreement on Closing the Gap justice targets.
The Senior Policy Officer (Identified role) in the FNJO will develop and provide policy advice, support policy projects, and utilize data and performance information to achieve Queensland's objectives for the FNJO program of work.
The Senior Policy Officer (Identified role) will: Prepare and support high-level policy advice to underpin project development, implementation, and monitoring of progress for delivery of initiatives undertaken by the FNJO.
Build strong and effective working relationships with government agencies and communities.
Provide policy advice on issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice issues in Queensland.
Actively look for opportunities to develop and improve the justice system to address the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Provide advice and prepare content for submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence, and answers to parliamentary questions.
Provide policy advice and support the Queensland Government representative on the Commonwealth Justice Policy Partnership (JPP) and the work of the Queensland JPP Executive Governance Group and Cross-Agency Working Group.
Undertake detailed critical analysis of information and statistics for inclusion in reports and other related publications, working closely with other team members.
Keep up to date with relevant research and Queensland and Commonwealth policies and developments, including the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
Other duties as directed by the First Nations Justice Officer and Directors.
Applications will remain current for 12 months.
