Some of these stakeholders include Public Health Units, Department of Primary Industries, Wildlife Health Australia, and the University of Sydney Veterinary School.The Animal and Vector Borne Diseases team is responsible for developing and implementing processes and procedures for state-wide public health surveillance, reporting, prevention, and control of public health threats related to zoonotic and vector-borne diseases.What you will doThe Senior Policy Officer will analyse the impact of public health strategies and develop and refine programs and approaches to achieve public health benefit, with a particular focus on ensuring public health outcomes with Aboriginal people and communities.Projects for this role may include but are not limited to:Participating in One Health projects combining environmental health and infectious disease prevention with Aboriginal communities.Representation of One Health Branch / Health Protection NSW on working groups and interagency committees.Consider risks and prepare for novel or emerging zoonotic and vector-borne disease threats.About you:We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:Post graduate qualifications in Public Health or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.Experience in policy development and evaluation, including the provision of expert policy advice and recommendations on complex public or population health issues and how these impact on Aboriginal people and communities.Experience in the investigation and management of communicable diseases or other public health threats as they relate to Aboriginal people in NSW.High-level conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information rapidly and accurately.Excellent organisational skills, with proven capacity to deliver high quality products within agreed timeframes.Strong inter-personal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written skills.How to applyPlease review the role description and submit your up-to-date resume (up to 5 pages) and cover letter (1-2 pages) AND demonstrate your ability by attaching a response to the selection criteria below.Selection CriteriaThis is a position identified for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
