CBR Recruitment is delighted to be working with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to recruit a Senior Policy Manager, Communicable Diseases.
NACCHO is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) and the lead advisor to the Commonwealth Government on primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally.
Position Overview: The Senior Policy Manager oversees a small team with various policy and project responsibilities, coordinating high-level advice and advocacy on complex communicable disease policy matters particularly related to sexual health and blood borne viruses. They will undertake research to provide evidence-based recommendations, work under broad direction, and use initiative to lead the development of high-quality policy advice.
Key Responsibilities: Managing and coordinating communicable diseases policy.Reviewing policy papers, submissions, published evidence, and stakeholder input to formulate policy positions and recommendations to inform communicable diseases policy reforms.Preparing policy advice and complex correspondence including briefings, talking points, and submissions to enquiries.Drafting policy frameworks and implementing policy directions into program frameworks and/or plans.Liaising with various levels of government and within both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.Representing the organisation at external meetings, working groups, and other forums, advocating agreed NACCHO policy positions.Managing strategic initiatives to support the work of ACCHOs in delivering holistic and integrated primary care and communicable disease responses.Driving communication and advocacy of NACCHO policies and strategic direction.The skills and experience we are seeking: Demonstrated high level policy experience.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.The ability to think strategically, show initiative, and use sound judgement in policy analysis.Experience providing high-quality policy advice supported by research, analysis, and issue management.The ability to manage multiple initiatives at once, plan and prioritise to deliver policy initiatives on time.Experience in stakeholder engagement and ability to influence at senior levels.Collaborative leadership skills with the ability to manage a small policy and project team.Relevant qualifications are highly desirable.Reward: You will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration and conditions, including not-for-profit salary packaging, along with 15% superannuation, ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to be part of a cohesive team committed to improving primary health care outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
