The Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) is the national Industry Association for aged care providers offering retirement living, seniors housing, residential care, home care, community care and related services.
Membership is open to all providers of age services and aligned care services (e.g.
disability care) where they also provide services to older Australians.
Working part time on a 12-month fixed term contract, we are seeking a motivated individual to join our Policy & Advocacy team, supporting the delivery of quality aged care services across Australia.
The Senior Policy Advisor represents the aged care sector by proactively engaging with the Australian Government and stakeholders, analysing government policy, developing position statements, and writing submissions.
Key responsibilities will include: Contributing to ACCPA's policy activities and program of works, including the development of any specialist function in association with the Head of Policy.Preparing high-quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers or submissions incorporating member input.Tracking, analysing and interpreting research findings regarding their relevance to ACCPA's members.Engaging a wide group of stakeholders together to discuss their needs relative to any policy or legislative changes.Fostering positive relationships and regularly meeting with internal and external stakeholders such as members and government officials; and other stakeholders (as appropriate).Representing the interests of the Members in engaging with Government on operational, legislative, regulatory and practice reforms.Representing ACCPA in relevant forums (e.g.
committees, events, working groups) as agreed.Maintaining positive and productive working relationships with the Media and Communications & Marketing teams, contributing to policy and advocacy outputs, such as media releases and communications to members.Developing and managing the successful delivery of relevant externally funded projects as required.Participating in Policy & Advocacy team activities to support consistency across the function, as directed.About You: You are a passionate policy professional with experience in aged care and/or home and community care with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while ensuring a high level of accuracy.
One of your strengths will be excellent oral and written communication with the ability to explain complex policy matters with impact and influence.
You will have:
Relevant tertiary qualifications.Experience in public policy in government, health or aged care related organisations, membership organizations, or significant operational experience in aged care.An understanding of health policy and current issues impacting the aged care industry or significant transferable public policy experience.An appreciation of the political system and its policy processes.Confident communication style and demonstrated experience in stakeholder consultation.The ability to communicate key messages and interpret legislative requirements.High quality research, analytical and writing skills with demonstrated ability to compose concise policy briefings and submissions.Strong work ethic and work history that would evidence commitment to ACCPA values and a genuine passion for aged care.We require a federal police check as an essential selection component for this role, please consider this requirement when submitting your application.
