An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Policy Advisor to develop and lead parts of AusNet's policy positioning relating to the distribution network. You will monitor and respond to relevant national and jurisdictional policy developments and position the company and our customers for favourable long-term outcomes.
With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank and is part of our Distribution line of business within the Strategy & Regulation team. This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Help develop company views on a range of strategic policy matters, including leading internal analysis and leveraging existing work to contribute to industry debate.Lead our input into reviews and forums established by industry policy-forming bodies, to present the company's views and engage in debate to influence stakeholders.Assist in the management of day-to-day policy and regulatory issues for the regulated distribution network, including providing internal business advice.Develop and maintain detailed understanding of policy and regulatory constraints and opportunities on broad commercial and business arrangements.Develop professional relationships with stakeholders to enhance the company's reputation as a highly credible and leading contributor in policy development processes that deliver good customer outcomes, providing an opportunity to influence their thinking and decisions.You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: An awareness of the current status and emerging trends of electricity and other utilities, including a working knowledge of relevant state and national policies and energy industry regulatory structure.Strategic thinking – you consider medium and longer-term impacts of policy development and positioning.Sound interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal – you are capable of influencing staff, peers and external stakeholders.Experience in preparing and presenting to management and formal submissions.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel models and modelling quality assurance, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.Degree qualified in Public Policy, Economics or a related discipline.A real place to belong.
