The Senior Policy Advisor will contribute to strategic policy projects at every stage of the policy cycle. This includes research, analysis, development of policy options and the preparation of reports and advice.

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Division


The Policy, Strategy and Performance (PSP) group supports the department to maintain its intensive focus on delivery, performance and engagement in order to achieve the Education State reform agenda and the department's strategic intent. The group aligns policy leadership with strategy, planning, governance and performance to enable evidence-informed decisions that drive current and future system-wide reforms and improve outcomes for all Victorians.

The Education Policy and Reform Division drives strategic policy direction for the department, taking a system-wide perspective and using evidence, analysis and collaboration to support students and schools to thrive and reach their full potential.

About the Role

??The Senior Policy Advisor will contribute to strategic policy projects at every stage of the policy cycle. This includes research, analysis, development of policy options and the preparation of reports and advice.

?The role sits within a high-performing team that brings a learning mindset and passion to driving policy reform that improves outcomes for children and young people. The role is available on a full-time basis, but flexible arrangements will be considered.

The role does
not
involve people management responsibilities.

the ability to use project management concepts to manage deliverables, manage risks, and adjust to shifting priorities whilst taking initiative and accountability for one's own work.


Desirable
Qualifications and Experience

While the position does not require detailed knowledge of the school system, this would be advantageous, as would prior experience in strategic policy development. Demonstrated skills in quantitative analysis to inform policy will be particularly favourably regarded.

A bachelor's degree in education, public policy or a relevant discipline is desirable.
