This position can be based in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. Relocation assistance from interstate or overseas locations is available for the successful candidate.
The Senior Policy Advisor – Government Relations will develop policy positions in areas including the tertiary education legislative framework, International education and student visa policy, conduct research and analysis in support of evidence-based advocacy, and represent Navitas at key sector and political forums.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Engagement and Government Relations, some of the key responsibilities include:
Assist with the development of the Company's government relations strategyAssist and/or lead the development of advocacy plans for specific government relations campaignsIn conjunction with the HSEGR, build and manage relationships of trust with Ministers, Ministerial staff, Opposition frontbenchers, Members of Parliament and Senators, public officials, peak bodies, third party advocates and other policy influencersPrepare submissions for government policy reviews, proposed legislation and other government consultative processes, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to source content and make recommendations on Navitas' positions on key policy debatesWork with stakeholders across the organisation to advance proposals to attract government support for key initiatives and policy measuresThe person we seek will ideally have the following: A degree with substantial relevant experience, or extensive experience and policy expertise in tertiary education or other complex regulatory environmentsA sound understanding and knowledge of policy, operations and emerging trends in the tertiary education sector in AustraliaDemonstrated capacity to develop strong, supportive cross-organisational relationships and partnershipsDemonstrated experience in supporting and providing advice for consideration for senior leadersExperience producing high quality briefings, policy positions, strategic insights, research and other written materialAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to investigate and make informed decisions regarding complex issuesDemonstrated understanding and experience working with data and producing research and analytics in complex legislative or highly regulated industriesDemonstrated high-level interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skillsSound commercial acumen, with a talent for creative thinking and problem solvingCapacity to work with small teams to develop strategic goals for policy reformWhat we can offer: We offer careers across our global operationsWe recognise and reward.We understand the importance of showing appreciation.We care for you.
