About the role Mater Health currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Podiatrist to join the Queensland Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (QDEC) in a part-time, fixed term role, working 19 hours per week for 5 months. The Queensland Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (QDEC) provides comprehensive ambulatory and inpatient care for young adults and adults with diabetes and endocrine conditions and is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of Endocrinologists, Diabetes Nurse Educators, Dietitians, Psychologists and Podiatrists.
This position will work as part of this multidisciplinary team within QDEC to deliver advanced podiatry clinical expertise in the field of Diabetes and High-Risk Foot, as well as education and leadership in this specialist area.
Responsibilities Applying professional judgement to a complex caseload within QDEC and to inpatients referred across the continuum of care, within a multi-disciplinary team environment, in accordance with professional and ethical standards.Providing expert podiatry clinical advice in diabetes and high-risk foot pathologies, applying professional judgement to a complex caseload and adapting clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence, with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.Identifying and contributing to the development of evidence-based clinical practice, procedures, protocols and education materials at a local, and state-wide level, to improve the delivery of podiatry services for patients with diabetes and high-risk feet.Facilitating the integration of services across specialties within a clinical area to assist in the delivery of effective podiatry services.Monitoring and reporting on clinical practices and outcomes through MARS and actively participating in quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of podiatry services.Working cooperatively and effectively within QDEC and other specialty teams involved with patients who have high-risk feet.Liaising with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers as required.Developing clinical practice development activities and participating in local professional development, and local/state-wide/national workshops or conferences.About you The successful applicant must possess:
Tertiary qualifications in Podiatry.Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Demonstrated high level of professional knowledge, expertise and clinical skill in the provision of podiatry services to persons with acute and high-risk foot pathology.Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate evidence-based service improvement initiatives and/or research activities and provide clinical supervision or support to less experienced staff or other members of your multidisciplinary team.Demonstrated ability to apply evidence-based principles to facilitate novel, complex Podiatry or multidisciplinary clinical decisions.Demonstrated high-level, well-developed communication skills to enable effective interaction in individual and group situations with team members, patients, internal/external clients or stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to provide advice to professional supervisors and other senior clinicians regarding evidence-based service delivery and improvement opportunities.Mater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
