About the role
We're seeking a Senior Platform Engineer – Unix to ensure the efficient operation of all facets of the Transurban Unix & Linux environment to meet the needs of the business as defined in the Service Level Agreements.

Day-to-day, you will:
Administer the Unix/Linux environment across all Transurban Datacentres including the Disaster Recovery Site.
Ensure the efficient operation of all facets of storage including performance, monitoring, maintenance, incident management, problem management, lifecycle management, and vulnerability management.
Work with third parties to execute any planned changes to the environment.
Provide on-call support for escalated 24/7 incidents.
Proactively manage all Unix/Linux systems and infrastructure.
Perform daily operational health checks and storage & backups monitoring.
Manage incidents, problems, and service requests in line with SLA guidelines.
Conduct capacity management and continuous improvement activities.
Ensure availability management by monitoring, measuring, and reporting on infrastructure service availability.
Review, assess, and feedback operational impact for Unix/Linux projects.
Contribute to the development, review, configuration, and testing of Unix/Linux infrastructure.
Manage risk to Unix/Linux infrastructure availability and performance.
Deliver project solutions into the IT Operations production environments.
Perform after-hours work and 24x7 on-call duties on a rostered basis.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Strong customer service ethos and track record of delivering to customer requirements.
Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Unix/Linux servers in a mission-critical environment.
Breadth of experience in technology infrastructure and operations roles.
Extensive experience in AIX and RedHat setup, administration, and troubleshooting.
Working technical knowledge of scripting (PERL, shell scripts) and networking concepts.
Understanding of integration of LINUX/UNIX security with Active Directory (or other LDAP systems).
Experience in patch management on Unix and Linux systems.
Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet/Ansible.
Competence with testing, flowchart, and data mapping tools and procedures.
Previous experience working in an operational 24x7 environment.
Diploma or university degree in computer science or software engineering and relevant work experience or industry experience.
ITIL Foundation version 2/3 and industry certifications/qualifications.
