The Senior Platform Engineer reports to the Manager, Infrastructure Services within the La Trobe University Information Services, Enterprise Services function. This position is an operational role responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the University's IT infrastructure platforms. The role includes ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of platforms, as well as providing technical leadership and expertise within the team.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
Extensive experience in IT infrastructure platform design, implementation, and management.Strong knowledge of platform technologies, scripting languages, and automation tools.Expertise in platform security, performance tuning, and monitoring.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Effective communication and collaboration abilities.Strong organisational and time management skills.Expertise in RedHat Linux Systems Administration.Responsibilities Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of platform management practices.Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure infrastructure platforms support the University's objectives and strategic goals.Collaborate with stakeholders to understand platform requirements and ensure alignment with organisational needs.Mentor and support junior platform engineers and other technical staff.Contribute to the development of training, documentation, and other resources to enhance the department's capabilities.Building and Maintaining Infrastructure
Design, implement, and manage IT infrastructure platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security:
Oversee platform configurations, updates, and optimisations.Monitor, manage and troubleshoot servers, primarily Linux/FOSS solutions.Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures for platform management.Only candidates with Full Working Rights in Australia may apply for this position.
