Your Role There is no typical working week at Flybuys.
Here are some of the things you will be working on, day-to-day:
The key areas of accountability in the role are: Design and implement cloud, container and virtual platforms as well as maintaining and enhancing infrastructure as code capabilities.Responsible for design, provision, support and continuous improvement of a variety of cloud infrastructure and application hosting solutions.Define DevOps best practices for our application development teams and assist them in engaging these processes, including manual code and infrastructure deployments, and the development of a continuous development pipeline.Provide consultative assistance to application development teams in leveraging automation and monitoring tools for continuous improvement of application deployments and monitoring.Drive application teams in leveraging external and internal cloud services features such as elastic capacity auto-scaling, elastic load balancing, right-sizing, disaster recovery strategies, and tiered storage.Drive release and maintenance of software applications according to business needs.Ensure design guideline policies are implemented into day-to-day activities throughout the Flybuys ecosystem.Establish/improve on cloud engineering processes to ensure seamless and automatic progression of the releases across environments.Technical: Strong AWS cloud experience and automation & orchestration of the various cloud environments across the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC).Ensure best practice for the adoption and ongoing consumption of AWS cloud services from various lenses (automation, operations and security).Oversight and support governance of the AWS pipeline and automation including optimization opportunities to drive greater utilization of the AWS cloud whilst driving down cloud opex cost.Own the operational aspect of production and development systems to ensure agreed service level agreements are met.Work within IT, cross-functionally and with vendors, to successfully identify, prioritize, and resolve issues and provide subject matter expertise for enhancements, developments, and operational improvements.Contribute towards business and technical requirements analysis and review.Collaborate with appropriate teams to ensure the transitioning applications/systems from Production to Support meet compliance standards and can be accepted to transition across.Continuous Improvement: Drive the automation and improvement of current processes where applicable, including monitoring for the same.Drive defect analysis and suggest improvements to the production/delivery process to improve quality.Delivery: Be proactive in delivery and maintenance of the AWS cloud environment across multiple streams of work.Project estimations including time and costings (specifically AWS platforms).Your Experience Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.5+ years experience working in a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer/DevOps Engineer role or similar.Hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure and platform services (Mandatory).Working in cross-functional Agile teams with knowledge across concepts and methodologies.Solid experience working with AWS services not limited to Cloudfront, EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, RDS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, StepFunctions etc.Hands-on experience using CloudFormation, preferably using AWS CDK.Hands-on experience with Container technology like Docker, ECS, EKS and best practice use from an operations and security perspective.Development experience in at least one of Python, Ruby, Golang, TypeScript or similar.Hands-on experience using Agile Tools like Atlassian JIRA, Confluence.Good understanding of CI/CD toolset like Gitlab CI and git-based workflow.Experience building cloud infrastructure pipelines, automation and release processes.Experience in complex, large-team technical environments requiring prompt resolution and strategic actions.AWS Certified Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Professional.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Can demonstrate behaviours aligned to Flybuys Leadership Capabilities - Own, Act, Inspire.Your Benefits!
