At Western Power we're working towards our vision for a clean energy future and we're looking for diverse, passionate people to join our team of world leading experts.We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Engineer at our Perth office, on a Permanent basis.About this roleAs the Senior Planning Engineer, you will be accountable for undertaking power system studies relating to steady state, dynamic, transient, power quality and small signal power system performance.To provide a focal point for technical support, develop works planning reports and business cases and implement technical criteria and to identify short and long term enhancements to the transmission or distribution networks to facilitate general load growth as well as new large customer and generator connections.To ensure that the necessary budgets and approvals are obtained in a timely manner.Develop concept solutions (network and non-network) to resolve network constraints in a timely and economical manner and progress projects in a manner consistent with the Program Governance Framework.Prepare and justify connection advice for larger generators and customers, including connection and shared network augmentations, and assist with managing stakeholder expectations regarding delivery of their project.Lead Joint Planning Teams and provide a technical network planning function into the options analysis and scope development.Perform specialist studies relating to rotor angle, small signal, frequency and voltage stability, electromagnetic transients and corona.Perform incident investigations and work with generators and customers to define control system settings to maximise power system security.
Witness and assess generator compliance tests.Develop, maintain and validate the Digsilent Powerfactory base case model including generator and load dynamic models.Provide technical support to the Asset and Operations planning teams including Senior, Principal Engineers including the Area Manager and Engineering Team Leaders where required.
