Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary ObjectivePerform regulatory assessments, undertake monitoring and compliance activities, and provide advice for the development of the Northern Territory's upstream petroleum industry.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssess petroleum field management plans and applications for rates of recovery to ensure adherence to good oilfield practice and the Territory's Petroleum Act 1984 and Petroleum Regulations 2020.Apply the Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS) and reservoir modelling to ensure licensees will achieve maximum economic recovery of petroleum.Review independent validation reports and other data to determine compliance with relevant approvals, including the analysis and interpretation of monthly production data against forecasted rates of production, approved rates of recovery, and reservoir performance.Develop and deliver monitoring and compliance assessments for petroleum field management and lead or assist in investigating incidents reported to the Petroleum Operations work unit.Provide advice on technical works programs and analysis of exploitable accumulations of petroleum for commercial use.Perform the duties of an Inspector under relevant legislation, store and manage compliance data, and undertake field work in remote locations.Prepare a range of correspondence/advice that includes reports, memorandums, briefs, and complex documents for internal and external stakeholders.Develop policies, guidelines, and procedures for regulating petroleum resource management.Selection CriteriaEssentialTertiary Degree in a relevant field of engineering.Significant experience in resource management, including in reservoir engineering and the interpretation of well testing, well logging, and production data.Demonstrated experience in the application of the Petroleum Resource Management System (PRMS).Demonstrated experience conducting audits and/or inspections and incident investigations.Demonstrated experience managing risk whether strategic, compliance, and/or operational in nature.Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and negotiate outcomes with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and work cohesively in a team environment.Demonstrated high-level written communication skills, including preparation of detailed reports, briefings, and similar correspondence.Proven strong personal organisation skills, evidence of consistently meeting deadlines, and experience working unsupervised in remote locations.DesirableCertificate IV in Government Investigations.Valid driver's licence or have the ability to obtain one.
