YOUR ROLE IN A NUTSHELL:
The purpose of the Senior Payroll Officer role is to provide accurate, efficient and value adding payroll services to support the large workforce operating across WPP AUNZ businesses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  The key responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Officer are as follows:
Payroll:  End to end process of Payroll activities Accountable for managing complex client accounts, payment issues, client queries and complaintsManage and resolve escalated payroll issues and assist Payroll Officers with difficult payroll issuesAllocate day to day activities in a structured manner to ensure all tasks are delivered in the appropriate time frame.Review work of Payroll OfficersAssist the Payroll Managers and Head of Payroll with any adhoc requests as and when requiredCalculate and process accurately all fortnightly and/or monthly payroll, increases, back pay, leave entitlements, other adjustments and termination payments in accordance with statutory requirementsFacilitate the electronic transfer of salaries and wages to financial institutions and other deduction recipientsEnsure payment to employees, superannuation companies are processed in a timely mannerEnsure payroll guidelines (policies and procedures) are accurate, up-to-date and promote effective and efficient practicesReporting - ensure day to day reporting requirements are met; adhoc reports are provided to stakeholders in accordance with confidentiality requirementsEnsure Sarbanes & Oxley (SOX) and other control processes are followedTeam Membership: Train new team members on the Payroll Officer roleGuide, mentor and coach junior team members on any escalations issuesDemonstrate and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and collaborationAttend team and other meetingsPractice courteous assertiveness with all interactionsDemonstrate the behaviours expected from the team and customersProvide strong emphasis on providing 'needs based' customer serviceMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networksEscalate matters to management as appropriateTransforming Processes:  Champion and participate in continuous improvement efforts and projectsIdentify process improvement opportunitiesIdentify opportunities for automation of processesSkills and Qualifications:  2+ years experience in a similar roleAbility to maintain confidentialityKnowledge of national and state based payroll, supernannuation, leave related regulations and legislationA strong client service approach, quality control is keyAbility to build and maintain strong relationshipsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAdvanced MS Office skills, with high degree of confidence in MS ExcelEffective organisation skills with the ability to prioritiseFlexible and adaptable attitude amidst an environment of constant changeKnowledge of contemporary Payroll principles, practices, and regulationsStrong attention to detailCourteous assertivenessHOW WE WORK: At WPP, our people are at the heart of everything we do.
