Where you'll be workingNSLHD Child, Youth and Family Sustaining NSW Families Program (across various sites), Macquarie Hospital as the Main HubWhat you'll be doing The Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) works collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) Team who provide antenatal and postnatal support and intervention to vulnerable families in home and community settings, in-keeping with the NSW Health Supporting Families Early, Maternal and Child Health Home Visiting Policy.
This Child and Family Health (CFH) nurse-led SNF team offers families, who are experiencing psychosocial stressors ongoing nurse home-visiting and structured nurse-led interventions from mid-pregnancy until their child is two years old.
SNF aims to support healthy parent-child relationship development and support new parents' capacity to optimise their infant's health, well-being, physical, emotional, cognitive, communication, and social development in the first 2000 days of life - to give children the best possible start to life, and before they start school.The SNF OT holds specialist expertise in infant development and holds advanced practice skills in developmental assessment and working in partnership with families.
They primarily offer high-level clinical consultancy, professional advice, guidance and education to nurses working directly in partnership with families enrolled in the SNF program to enhance care for children.
As a senior clinician the OT actively contributes to team case reviews and family case conferences and provides clinical education and supervision for students.The role may occasionally accompany a nurse on a home visit to conduct a specialist assessment and provide intervention for infants with development support needs.
The role also facilitates referrals and supports families to access community or outpatient children's OT services, develops resources suitable for children from diverse backgrounds.The SNF Team is part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Child, Youth and Family (CYF) Community Health Service and the role reports operationally to the CYF Occupational Therapy Team Leader.
Collectively our CYF service philosophy of care revolves around working in partnership with families, providing child-centred, safe, culturally sensitive, trauma and evidence-informed, neurodiversity affirming and integrated care that optimises lifelong outcomes for children and families.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria Full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
A current and unrestricted NSW drivers' licence (P2 licence acceptable).
Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge of Paediatric Occupational Therapy with evidence of extensive clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist Level 2.
Extensive experience in assessment, planning and evaluating occupational interventions for children aged 0-2 years presenting with complex developmental, social or health needs, including trauma.
Demonstrated capacity to provide high level clinical consultation, advice, and education in multidisciplinary child development focused community service contexts.
Demonstrated ability to provide information and education to clients, caregivers, and other professionals to facilitate and promote optimal child development.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, professional, and business writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated high-level computer literacy and the ability to use health information, Telehealth, and Microsoft systems.
