This role will join a team that helps to build an even stronger trans-Tasman dairy business with reach across Oceania and beyond.About the opportunityWe are looking for a Senior Packaging Technologist to join our high performing Packaging Team who are responsible for packaging development and maintenance across all Fonterra Brands sites and third-party manufacturers including new product development (NPD), packaging renovation and sustainable packaging integration.Reporting to the Packaging Technology Manager, you will be a key leader in our packaging innovation and development efforts including scoping, assessing and delivering new and transformational packaging materials, technologies and systems that deliver to Fonterra's sustainable packaging commitments and innovation needs for Oceania. Leveraging your extensive technical expertise, you will play a pivotal role in driving complex packaging projects, providing technical guidance to the team, and identifying new technologies and processes to improve our business performance.Your key responsibilities will include:Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the packaging development team, guiding them in packaging material selection, design, evaluation, and optimisation.Lead cross-functional teams in the development of innovative packaging solutions for dairy products, managing complex projects from concept to commercialisation.Optimise packaging materials, structures, and processes to improve efficiencies, reduce environmental impact, and enhance the consumer experience while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Stay abreast of packaging regulations and standards in Australasia and ensure that packaging materials and designs comply with all relevant regulations, including food safety and labelling requirements.Implement best practices and process improvements in packaging development and manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability.Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.You will be based at our Melbourne office, often travelling to sites across Victoria and Tasmania to enhance your understanding and build rapport with our manufacturing sites.
