About the Role: The Origination team is part of the renewable energy and carbon trading function within AGL's Integrated Energy division.
This role will be responsible for securing both short and long-term commercial agreements for renewable power, battery agreements, and/or carbon.
The role requires a high degree of autonomy and a strategic approach to negotiations and effective relationship management to advance AGL's strategic objectives and manage portfolio risks in line with AGL's climate transition goals.
What you'll be doing: Originating contracting opportunities to fulfill AGL's strategic objectives to transition to a low carbon portfolioLead contract negotiations for power purchase agreements, offtake agreements, complex customer sales contractingBuild and maintain relationships with market participants, customers, project developers, and market operatorsProviding guidance to other teams across Integrated Energy, Trading and Treasury Risk, Corporate Development, and Finance in order to manage the entire deal lifecycle, from opportunity identification to negotiations and post-execution activitiesLead complex and bespoke negotiations, document transactions, and implementation of commercial arrangements.Develop business cases to support transactions with the support of the analytical teamManaging supply agreements existing in the portfolio, including enhancing processes to enforce contract specifications and resolve conflict where breaches or non-compliance occur.Identify and develop opportunities for AGL to expand its activities in existing marketsAbout You: You will have an understanding of the Australian power market and the drivers behind renewable power, battery agreements, and/or carbon contracting arrangements, which has been gained through your experience in domestic and/or international commercial power and/or carbon markets.
The ability to build strong relationships with both customers and project developers will be essential.
